The Daily Plate
Late birthday apero
Since I was on a trip on my birthday and celebrated it with my family, I wanted to gather my friends after returning.
This year I felt very strongly that I had become a part of the neighborhood, and the neighborhood had grown in my dreams - Alcântara, Ajuda, Belém. So the choice of location was obvious - the Santo Amaro viewpoint, with a chapel, olive trees, and a stunning view of the bridge and the red roofs of Lisbon.
The apero format implies light snacks with wine. So the basis was seasonal fruits and vegetables - ripe apricots, cherries, figs (which my Pakistani bro had carefully reserved for me in advance), ripe beautiful tomatoes, cucumbers with bumps, basil. This splendor was complemented by ham, thin turkey ham, slices, and cheese - camembert, gorgonzola, mozzarella, burrata. As for bread, tartine from Dobeco. For crunching - chips and nachos.
To make it a bit more interesting, the snacks were seasoned with fig balsamic, caramelized pistachios, olive oil with pesto.
And I wanted a simple homemade pie - shortcrust pastry with nectarines.
In general, we drank natural wine and negroni, chatted, hugged, took photos, enjoyed the sunset and the city. I was charged with warmth and love for several more days 🤍
